EVENING PRAYERS

Photobucket

We give you thanks
 for surrounding us,
as daylight fades,
 with the brightness
of the vesper light;
 and we implore you
of your great mercy that,
 as you enfold us
with the radiance of this light,
so you would shine
 into our hearts the brightness
 of your Holy Spirit;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.Grant us,

Lord,
 the lamp of charity
 which never fails,
that it may burn in us
 and shed its light
 on those around us,
 and that by its brightness
we may have a vision
of that holy City,
 where dwells the true
 and never-failing Light,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.As you have taught us

to call the evening,
 the morning,
 and the noonday one day;
 and have made the sun
 to know its going down:
 Dispel the darkness
 of our hearts,
that by your brightness
we may know you
to be the true God
and eternal light,
living and reigning
 for ever and ever.
Amen.Seek him who made

the Pleiades and Orion,
 and turns deep darkness
into the morning,
 and darkens the day into night;
who calls for the waters
 of the sea and pours them
out upon the surface of the earth:
The Lord is his name.
Amen.

    AMEN !    Well That was pretty Cool ILSE, thank you. Ah, the book of Amos. Here is another translation KJV (( Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death
    into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the
    waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is
    his name:  Amos 5:8ParanoidX2 Would really like that one.

    Yes,  He that turns the shadow of death
    into the morning.  It is he that I seek. Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on your verse 5-8"The same almighty power can, for repenting sinners, easily turn affliction and
    sorrow into prosperity and joy, and as easily turn the prosperity of daring
    sinners into utter darkness."ILSE , later in that same chapter the Book of Amos it addresses both the repentant and unrepentant sinner.  {Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Than the lord God Almighty will be
    with you just as you say he is , Hate evil love good, maintain justice in your
    courts perhaps the lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.}
    Amos 5: 14-15 NIV
    {Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says. "There will be
    wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. the
    farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail There will be wailing
    in all the vineyards for I will pass through your midst". says the Lord.}  Amos
    5:16-17 NIVIt’s Ok leave it to me, ParanoidX2 to point this out. ((( WE must choose )))  good over evil.   In todays world the lines between these have been blurred. I pray.  May the eye’s blinded by the enemy be opened by the Grace and Mercy of the Almighty ! and still (( There is no man so blind as he that will not see.))Thank you ILSE  I really liked that verse in your blog … could you tell?  be well.

    Thanks for your kind words Ilse, yesterday was a bad day, but I’m over it, and I learned a valuable lesson. You really have to trust  your instincts about someone.  I you have doubts, they are not your friends.  Take good care my dear, and thank you for the beautiful angel. xxluvya
